George's Marvellous Medicine @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre | England | United Kingdom

“A typically Dahl-ish blend of comedy, malice and theatrical vitality.”Most grandmothers are lovely, kind, helpful old ladies. Not George’s Grandmother. George’s Grandmother likes to gobble up slugs and bugs, and is always telling George what to do.

But one day, when his parents leave him alone with the grizzly old grunion, George takes his chance and sets about creating a brand new medicine to cure her of her cruelty. Little does he know that his perilous potion will be the start of a rather marvellous adventure.

Following the success of Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Twits and The Witches, Curve’s magnificent new co-production with Rose Theatre Kingston promises to be yet another hugely imaginative and entertaining stage adaptation, bursting with growing grannies, feathery farm animals and bags of frothbuggling family fun.

Joining Director Julia Thomas for David Wood’s imaginative and fun-filled adaptation of the much loved classic tale will be Designer Morgan Large, Composer Tasha Taylor-Johnson (who is supported by the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Scheme), Lighting Designer Jack Weir, Sound Designer David Gregory and Casting Director Kay Magson.

Taking the role of the show’s creative hero George is talented young actor Preston Nyman, son of Leicestershire-born Andy Nyman. Lisa Howard, known for her recurring role as Grace Sheehan in Emmerdale, will play the grizzly Grandma. Completing the cast is Catherine Morris who will play George’s Mum, Justin Wilman as his Dad and Chandni Mistry as the Chicken.

The production is Curve’s fourth Roald Dahl adaptation following The Twits, The Witches – which were also co-produced with the Rose – and most recently Fantastic Mr. Fox, a co-production with Nuffield Southampton Theatre which played to audiences at the Lyric Hammersmith over the summer.
Join us to see Roald Dahl’s treasured tale brought to phizz-whizzing life!

NT Young Marx - Encore Screening @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre | England | United Kingdom

Rory Kinnear (The Threepenny Opera, Penny Dreadful, Othello) is Marx and Oliver Chris (Twelfth Night, Green Wing) is Engels, in this new comedy written by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman. Broadcast live from The Bridge Theatre, London, the production is directed by Nicholas Hytner and reunites the creative team behind Broadway and West End hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors.

1850, and Europe’s most feared terrorist is hiding in Dean Street, Soho. Broke, restless and horny, the thirty-two-year-old revolutionary is a frothing combination of intellectual brilliance, invective, satiric wit, and child-like emotional illiteracy.

Creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions and prospective seducers of his beautiful wife all circle like vultures. His writing blocked, his marriage dying, his friend Engels in despair at his wasted genius, his only hope is a job on the railway. But there’s still no one in the capital who can show you a better night on the piss than Karl Heinrich Marx.

An Evening of Mediumship with Tony Stockwell (Second Space) @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre
Feb 7 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
An Evening of Mediumship with Tony Stockwell (Second Space) @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre | England | United Kingdom

Remarkably compelling, amazingly detailed and always humorous

The popular star of TV’s Street Psychic, Psychic Private Eyes and Psychic Academy, Tony Stockwell has a long established credibility as one of the top Intuitive Mediums and has shared the stage all round the world with international mediums such as Colin Fry, James van Praagh and Lisa Williams. Tony demonstrates his belief that those who have passed can communicate with their loved ones with detailed messages frequently including names, dates and locations and all delivered with emotion, sensitivity and empathy. The evening may include psychometry, photographs readings and psychic prediction.

Recent legislative guidelines insist that any Evening of Mediumship should be billed ‘for entertainment purposes’. Tony certainly uses his natural wit, showmanship and cockney charisma to entertain but more important, Mediumship has the potential to change someone’s life and instil in them a sense of peace, comfort and purpose. We hope that nobody can fail to come away untouched by the experience.
