Harpenden Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival @ Harpenden Public Halls
May 13 @ 2:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Before we know it Spring will be upon us, and by popular demand, so will this festival……

Showcasing the quality of live music in the UK; with The Pretty Things headlining and five other very different, but striking bands, this will undoubtedly be another a great festival and an occasion not to miss!

After more than 45 years of continuous service, The Pretty Things remain a significant, challenging force in rock and roll. Despite their veteran status, their contemporary relevance, undiminished energy & inspirational commitment inspire emerging generations of new artists and young fans, whilst retaining their devoted, fanatical, core fan base. Through their entire career, The Pretty Things have written, performed, and created informed, intelligent, ground-breaking, and original music, enabled by powerful, melodic writing that has kept this incredible band alive for nearly half a century…..

As soon as they strike their first note, the journey begins as they present their very special sound, just as they did when the band formed back in the early 60’s and achieved such great success with several singles charting in the UK. From Rhythm & Blues at the start of their career, they embraced other genres such as psychedelic rock in the late 1960s (with 1968 S,F. Sorrow being one of the first rock operas), hard rock in the early 1970s and new wave in the early 1980’s. Have a walk down memory lane and see the band play “Singapore Silk Torpedo” on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1974 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRVSSwJYqh0&feature=youtu.be and then 43 years on, “Don’t Bring Me Down” live in Munich in 2017 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn4sgBD9LyE

This year’s full line-up comprises of:

Pretty Things – Need anything else be said!

Aynsley Lister – an incredible guitarist whose brand of blues-based rock delivers contemporary song writing fuelled with the kind of heart and soul that’s missing from so much modern music!

Simon McBride – after back-pedalling on his solo career to start a family, Simon McBride “the man who everyone wants in their band” is back on the road with his own jet-fuelled outfit!

Connor Selby Band – citing Eric Clapton as his first and current major influence, Connor places particular emphasis on his output with legends John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and Cream!

The Luke Doherty Band – Since he found an old music VHS in a cupboard when he was 7 years old, featuring several Blues players, Luke is never happier than when he is playing Blues!

Deep Blue Sea – playing 21st century indie blues and in the finest blues traditions, their music is seldom predictable or generic – it reflects these times – good, bad, highs & lows!

With this calibre of artist stepping on stage, festival goers will see top class live performances and hear a range of incredible sounds with sets that incorporate a creative mix of Blues, Rock and R & B, with a sprinkling of other genres in the mix!

No need to worry about searching for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone’s taste!

Don’t miss out on going to Harpenden Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival on Sunday 13th May

The festival will take place at Harpenden Public Halls, Southdown Rd, Harpenden, Hertfordshire AL5 1PD

T.Rextasy @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre
May 13 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
T.Rextasy @ Aylesbury Waterside Theatre | England | United Kingdom

Marc Bolan, with his band T.Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era. With Bolan’s special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs throughout the 1970s including ‘Telegram Sam’ and ‘Jeepster’ he was able to obtain what would be yet another Top 20 record in 1976 that has since become one of the most memorable and everlasting signature tunes, ‘I Love to Boogie’.

T.Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 20 years, a career that ironically out lives Marc’s very own T.Rex. The band is now accepted as the world’s only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan & T.Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan’s family, estate, original ex-members of T.Rex, and Bolan’s catalogue management. The band has been described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’.

Truly a rock’n’roll concert for all ages – If you would like to know exactly what a Marc Bolan concert was like in the 1970s, this show is for you!

T.Rextasy – awarded the accolade of ‘The Best Live Tribute Band in the UK ’ by BBC1 TV.
