Panto director returns

Panto director Chris Nelson

Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and UK Productions have confirmed the return of Director Chris Nelson, who will be working his magic on this year’s magical pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from December 8th to 31st.

Chris has directed the past three festive productions at the Waterside, injecting his trademark humour across as many scenes and as many characters as possible, while maintaining the traditional elements of panto.

For those unfamiliar with the directing process it’s easy to think the role begins with rehearsals and ends when the show opens, but as Chris explains, it’s an almost year-round project: £It’s a long process, I had my first meeting back in March and it’s now my job to develop the show with the production company. I know how Andy and La Voix work so I can begin to plan for them and I’ve met with the fabulous Su Pollard as well to go through her ideas. It’s a team effort and my job is to look at it all and think about what will make the audience laugh.”

Chris is in good company as he will be working alongside entertainment legend Su Pollard playing the Wicked Queen, BBC 3 Counties Breakfast Show presenter and Aylesbury favourite, Andy Collins, the highly glamorous, larger-than-life La Voix and a team of the cheekiest dwarfs in the business.

Chris added: “Putting La Voix and Andy back together just makes sense, and to be joined by Su this year who’s a legend and very funny is the icing on the cake. I am bringing old friends back as choreographer and musical director, so we have a team of buddies who all want to entertain the festive masses. You’ll get tons of energy and heart. We are proud to represent Aylesbury and have a panto the region can say is their own.”
