Town centre pride

Santa's Sunday Funday

With dozens of hugely popular events and the opening of several new stores, Aylesbury’s town centre has had one of its best years to date, it is claimed. Events in the town have included Whizzfizzing Festival, Play in the Park, Love Your Local Market, Wear it Pink Day and Remembrance Day.

There were also some festive events, including Christmas Lights Switch-on, Santa’s Sunday Fun Day (pictured) and the largest Christmas Craft & Gift Fair in Buckinghamshire. As well as these crowd-pleasing events, the town centre was regularly brought to life with the addition of professional buskers and street entertainers.

The town centre also saw the opening of several new stores, including:
Smiggle – fun stationery and office supplies store in Friars Square;
MenKind – gadgets and novelty gifts store in Friars Square;
Calendar Club – Christmas store in Hale Leys Shopping Centre;
Gyms Fit 4 Less – health and fitness centre on Britannia Walk.

Diana Fawcett, Aylesbury Town Centre Manager, said: “The Town Centre Partnership is an established team with representatives from a wide range of different businesses and local communities in the town centre. We’re working hard to enhance the town to make it attractive to investors and visitors alike. And for a town of our size, we’re very proud of the wide range of events and work that we undertake.”

This year the town centre will be boosted by the £366,000 renovation of Aylesbury Library and the completion of Waterside North – a new development that includes four restaurants, 47 apartments, and a new public square.
