A Georgian Christmas
Families can meet Father Christmas with a Georgian twist next month.
Staff at Bucks Museum, in Aylesbury, are inviting people to join them for a Georgian Christmas full of tradition-inspired games, crafts and gifts.
Residents can discover some of the seasonal festivities of the 1700s at the St Nicholas event on Saturday 11 December, from 10.30am – 4pm.
Children will be delighted to visit a Green St Nick for storytelling and receive a traditional gift.
They can meet the costumed actors from The Mannered Mob for demonstrations and talks about life in Georgian times. There will be crafters, musicians and even a Georgian doctor on hand.
Food historian The Copper Pot will share customs around eating and cooking and visitors may be tempted to buy and try a very different, authentic Georgian-recipe hot chocolate.
There will be parlour games, fan and wig decorating, pomander making, trails and much more.
