Browse new library app
A free free Spydus Mobile app has been rolled out, aiming to help people manage their library account at their leisure.
The app, available for Apple and Android devices, allows people to renew loans or reserve reading material in a couple of clicks. People can even use their smartphone camera to issue their own books when they visit the library.
Buckinghamshire Council advises people to download the app, select Buckinghamshire Libraries from the drop-down list, enter a library membership number and PIN and pick a local library from the list. People are then ready to start exploring.
The council says: ‘If you need inspiration to help find your next read, take a look at the ‘Featured Items’ which shows books which recently been given great reviews by other local readers. These titles include Shuggie Bain, by Douglas Stuart, and Quite, by Claudia Winkleman.’
Clive Harriss, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: ‘The introduction of the new Spydus Mobile app means that customers now have the option to reserve books and renew loans all from their smartphone.
‘Not only is this convenient, but it also makes it a breeze for customers to browse the available range of book titles − including new releases.’
