Exhibition: The Windrush: Stories, Reminiscences & Recollections @ Queens Park Arts Centre

Brought by Learning Through the Arts.

When the Second War World ended in 1945, the war caused devastation and destruction to British life and infrastructure. In 1948, the British government called upon citizens from the Commonwealth to come and rebuild Britain. 493 men and some women responded to that call and came on the on the ship called ‘The Empire Windrush’. This is the story of Windrush migrants, the first mass migration from the Caribbean to Britain.

Using exhibition, group seminar and a series of family craft workshops, this project will illustrate the invaluable contributions made by Caribbean migrants to rebuilding Britain after the second world war; as we commemorating 70 years of the arrival of Empire Windrush’s voyage from the Caribbean to Tilbury in 1948.

This exhibition will be in the Queens Park Arts Centre’s Coffee Bar, access is during the Centre’s normal opening hours; for more information visit our website (www.qpc.org).
