Homes green light

Plans for 31`affordable homes in Thame finally get off the ground this week.

Formal issue of planning permission for Thame Community Land Trust’s housing site in Windmill Road paves the way for homes that are fully affordable, for the people of Thame, now and in the future.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s Planning Committee approved the application in Nov 2021. But there have been many technical issues to be resolved and it is only now that all matters have been resolved so that the plan can move forward.

Trust chairman Bob Austin said: ‘We are delighted to finally receive planning permission for our site.

‘This has been a long and arduous process from inception, site layout and buildings design, to now getting full planning permission.

‘This would not have been possible without the backing of Thame Town Council and substantial financial support from the Community Housing Fund and the Charities Aid Foundation for all the design work and technical reports that were needed.

‘The trust can now move forward this year to build the 31 homes in association with Soha Housing.’
