Hurrah for Rah Rah as old folk tune into past

The Rah Rah Theatre Company is bringing joy to elderly audiences in Bucks this summer.

The charity theatre company, funded by Heart of Bucks Community Foundation, specialises in using theatre as a form of therapy and has been working within the elderly community for more than 20 years.

Sharing in watching a show with music, comedy and drama is one way for the elderly (especially dementia sufferers) to reconnect and bring some much-needed joy back into their lives.

Rah Rah has received funding from the foundation to offer free entertainment this summer to community and care centres in the county.

Heart of Bucks is a community foundation that fundraises across Bucks in order to distribute money directly to local causes.

It operates to enable any form of philanthropy, whether from an individual or an organisation, which is effective and brings the greatest benefit to those in need across Bucks.

Since Heart of Bucks began in 2000, the charity has awarded £10 million to local causes and is one of 47 members of UK Community Foundations.

There are two shows on offer. The first is Top Hat Tales – a musical love story based around the famous Broadway musical songs of the 1930s, 40s and 50s, sung by stars such as Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day and Bing Crosby.

The second show is Summer Frolics, which is based around Britain’s old style #holiday camp’ entertainment. The shows have audiences laughing, singing and possibly even dancing with the cast to the music.
