Joy for hamper winner
A lucky prizewinner has received a hamper full of goodies after an innovative promotion supported by local businesses.
Aylesbury Town Centre Management team has been actively supporting them in Aylesbury town centre throughout the pandemic.
One of its initiatives was the popular Aylesbury Advent Calendar accompanied by the strap line ‘Yule Love Aylesbury this Christmas’.
All independent businesses in Aylesbury town centre were invited to take part in a social media Christmas Advent Calendar campaign for free to showcase their products, their staff or just for fun to raise their profile. Twenty-four local businesses stepped forward and each one had a dedicated day from 1 December through to Christmas Eve.
Each day, the profiled business made a generous donation to a giant hamper resulting in bottles of wine, prosecco, chocolates, biscuits, Amazon Echo, and gift vouchers that can be used as businesses start to reopen. With over 24 donated prizes the hamper was overflowing.
To win the hamper, people were encouraged to click each day on the social media posts to reveal the business and like and share the post to support and promote independent family-run businesses in the town.
After Christmas Eve, one lucky person who had shared and liked the posts was randomly picked as the winner.
The hamper was won by Angie Daly (pictured), who received her prize on her doorstep.
Angie said:’I am absolutely ecstatic to win this outstanding prize and the fact that it was put together purely by local businesses.
‘I would like to say a massive thank you to all of them for their generous gifts and I am really looking forward to getting to know and sample some of the business in Aylesbury town centre when we are able to do so as a family.’
The aim of the competition was to showcase and support the range of independent businesses in the town centre and was well received by people with the following selection of comments made from a vast range:
- “What a fab prize, thank you to all who contributed.”
