Purdy in the Limelight
Queens Park Arts Centre presents another night of great live music at the start of November when Rebecca Poole – aka The Fabulous Purdy – appears at the Aylesbury centre’s Limelight Theatre.
Rebecca Poole (pictured above) is a singer, songwriter also recognised under the artist name Purdy. Rebecca started her career singing for the Oxford Jazz company while penning her own original songs.
In 2015 she released an album titled ‘Diamond in the Dust’ produced by grammy winning Andy Wright, famed for his records with Imelda May, Chrissie Hynde and Simply Red. She went on to tour the album with her band, supporting Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. This included playing prestigious UK venues including The Royal Albert Hall which, sparked top reviews.
Rebecca’s distinctive, sultry stylings and songwriting skills have led to collaborations with Jamiroquai’s Matt Johnson and Ian Barter (Amy Winehouse) and Purdy’s latest singles have been championed by Radio 2, BBC 6 music and BBC London.
Rebecca has performed to 90,000 at Wembley Stadium, singing her self-penned Remembrance song for Help for Heroes, accompanied by 40 RAF men and women, receiving recognition from Dame Vera Lynn. She has been guest vocalist of Simply Red on The Royal Variety Show, performed alongside Jamie Cullum at BBC Radio 2’s Cheltenham Festival, playing packed houses at London’s premier venues (naming Ronnie Scotts and the 606 Club) Formula 1 events and The London Lifestyle Awards.
Only recently Rebecca appeared under her alias Purdy as a guest singer on Richard Branson’s Necker Island opening for Lana Del Rey.
Alongside her original projects Rebecca enjoys singing jazz, pop and soul covers for high end corporate events, private parties, Jazz clubs and intimate gatherings.
