Santa dress-up challenge for Kerry Katona's big Christmas lights switch-on in Thame

TV personality and former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona will be turning on the Christmas lights at Thame’s Santa Convention on Friday December 5th.

Recently wed Kerry has been spotted in Thame on numerous occasions since her move to the area and she will be flipping the switch at about 7pm with the help of the winner of this year’s Santa Hunt – spot all 24 Cool Santas around Thame and you could be in with a chance. Visit for more information. As well as the big switch-on, there will be plenty of other activities and entertainment going on from 3.30pm.

Organiser Thame Town Council is inviting people to Join in the fun and get dressed up to help create a town centre full of Santas. The Christmas switch-on this year takes the form of a Santa Convention, so practice your ‘ho-ho-ho-ing’ and make your way down to the High Street for an evening of festive fun.

Santa wouldn’t get anywhere if it wasn’t for his trusty reindeer; you can meet threeof his furry friends as they take a break from pulling the sleigh. You can also hitch a ride on the miniature steam railway that will be chugging up and down the High Street. Don’t miss the parade when the local schools will be showing off their handmade lanterns. All this plus a fantastic line-up of local talent on the stage including the local primary school choirs and Thame Concert Band. As always there will be a vast array of stalls selling everything from scented candles to sizzling hot dogs.

The fun doesn’t end there – make sure you take part in Small Business Saturday from 10am and join in some of the many festive activities going on around the Town Hall and Butter Market including a Frozen sing-a-long and Racquets fitness test. There will be lots of festive food available including mulled wine and a hog roast; grab a bite and sit and listen to the live music that will be playing outside Vintage and Modern Guitars.

Finally, if you fancy working off a few of those extra mince pies, why not enter the Festive Fun Run in aid of Florence Nightingale Hospice on Sunday December 7th. You can register to take part on their website – – or sign yourself up at their Christmas stall on Friday or Saturday.
