Santa's early visit

Buckinghamshire’s Christmas present appeal got some extra special support on Friday when Santa himself arrived early with a special delivery of gifts to Buckinghamshire Council’s Gateway offices.

The annual appeal – now in its sixth year – provides gifts to those children and young people in Buckinghamshire whose circumstances mean that they might not otherwise receive much at Christmas.

This year, to ensure that everyone stays as safe as possible, the appeal has opened a Just Giving page where people can make donations which will be used to purchase gifts (see below).

For those supporters who prefer to select a gift themselves, purchases can be made online for direct delivery to The Gateway at this address:

Additionally, the Buckinghamshire Library Service is providing Covid-safe collection points for donated gifts at the following libraries:

•          Aylesbury

•          Buckingham

•          Chesham

•          High Wycombe

Paul Irwin, one of the councillors leading the appeal, said: ‘It was certainly an extra special moment when Santa himself arrived to support the campaign – but the success of the appeal depends on the ordinary people across the county who provide gifts or donate to the Just Giving page.

‘It really does help our children and young people to have a happy Christmas – which is especially needed at this very difficult time.

‘Please do whatever you can, and thank you for your support.’
