Summer fest cancelled

Aylesbury Town Council has cancelled this year’s Parklife Weekend, including Live in the Park and Proms in the Park.

The annual summer festival attracts more than 17,000 people over the August Bank Holiday Weekend but given the current government guidelines, the event cannot be organised in a safe environment for all performers, suppliers and visitors, it states.

Council leader Richard Lloyd said: ‘It is with great regret that we’ve had to cancel the Parklife weekend but the safety of residents, performers, suppliers and volunteers is our top priority and we’ve made this difficult decision as late as we can.

‘I’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and we’re excited to be working with Stoke Mandeville Hospital radio on the alternative NOT Parklife weekend.’

The town council is currently working on plans to bring NOT Live in the Park to its Facebook page and other social platforms.  It aims to be a day packed with local musicians, fun and a look back over the past five years of Live in the Park, taking place on Saturday 29 August.
