Village has its say

Aerial view of Westbury

Westbury Parish Council has submitted an application to designate the parish as a neighbourhood area with a view to developing a neighbourhood plan.

The council is undertaking a six-week consultation, starting on June 7, seeking the views of people who live or work in the area.

Neighbourhood plans are a key part of the government’s ‘localism agenda’ to give local people more of a say on issues like where new homes, shops and offices should be built, and the design of new developments.

One of the first steps in developing a neighbourhood plan is that the parish council has to apply to the district council to be designated as a neighbourhood area.

The district council is inviting comments on the application, particularly from those living or working in the area, during a six-week public consultation.

The public consultation on the boundary of the proposed neighbourhood area runs until July 19.

To see the detailed maps of the proposed neighbourhood areas, visit the neighbourhood planning consultations web page. Alternatively, residents can request to see all the relevant information at the district council offices.

Any comments on the Westbury neighbourhood area application can be sent via email to forwardplans@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk or posted to: AVDC Forward Plans, The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP19 8FF.
