Heritage Open Days celebrates the nation’s rich history and culture and Aylesbury takes joins the fun from Friday 12th to Sunday 21st September, when doors across the town and beyond are thrown open, local tales shared and the secrets that lie within uncovered.

Encounter Aylesbury’s historic past with tours that make you look twice at everyday streets, talks from experts in their fields and hands-on activities. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, whether you are interested in music, local history, writing or theatre.

Take a walk through time with a guided heritage tour of the town centre, meet the Mayor in the Town Hall or discover interesting stories at St Mary’s Church. Head to the King’s Head for talks and a jazz evening, or learn something new with Aylesbury Quakers. Opera, historical fiction, family history and heritage crafts are just some more of what’s in store as part of this year’s festival. Check out this year’s brochure with the full event listing to see what’s happening…

Included as part of Heritage Open Days for the second year is Aylesbury Town Council’s annual Walking Play. Written, directed and performed by the talented crew at Unbound Theatre, this year’s production of A (Mostly) Factual History of Aylesbury promises fun facts and lots of laughs! Starting outside St Mary’s Church and weaving through the town to set the perfect atmosphere for these performances.
